A contract on allocation of 1.4 million kuna for the project of adjustment of infrastructure along the Zagreb-Karlovac motorway was signed in Zagreb on Saturday by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (SAFU) director Tomislav Petric and the Rijeka-Zagreb Motorway (ARZ) operator's board chair, Miro Skrgatic, the ministry stated.

The funding of HRK 1.4 million will be earmarked for the project whose total value is put at 2.2 million kuna.

A feasibility study is expected to give an analysis of options for reinforcing the capacity of this oldest motorway section in Croatia and for its upgrade.

Partners of the ARZ in this project are local authorities including Zagreb County and towns of Jastrebarsko and Karlovac and municipalities of Stupnik and Klinca Sela.

The Zagreb-Karlovac motorway handles the biggest volume of traffic in Croatia, and the ARZ operator has drawn up a master plan for development of traffic infrastructure along that motorway as a precondition for the development of the region, and this document has been partly financed from the European Union's Operational Programme for transport and transport infrastructure.
