Gov't endorses several projects in Zagreb County

The Croatian Government that held a session in the town of Zapresic, northwest of Zagreb, on Friday, gave its assent for several local projects in Zagreb County.

Thus, the Ivo Sanader Cabinet supported road construction, and Finance Minister Ivan Suker expressed satisfaction with the county government's decision to change the physical plan so as to facilitate the construction of the Zagreb-Sisak highway in the area of Velika Gorica.

The government decided to ensure 89 million kuna until 2011 for a project for a water supply and wastewater management in the municipality of Bistra near Zapresic.

The town of Zapresic will be given real estate, the value of which is about nine million kuna, from the Croatian Privatisation Fund.

The Government also endorsed several projects in relation to the construction and expansion of business zones in towns in Zagreb County.

Before the session, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and ministers held talks with the county's officials and local business people.

On that occasion, PM Sanader pointed out some positive macroeconomic indicators such as a rise of 15.5 percent in budgetary revenues in the first quarter of this year in comparison to the first quarter of 2006.

The Zapresic session was the 20th government session outside the Croatian capital.

This month, the government is going to convene again outside Zagreb in the northeastern city of Virovitica.
