First Phase of Motorway Zagreb – Sisak: Agreement Signed on Relocation of Corridor

The agreement regarding the relocation of the traffic corridor within the first phase of the motorway Zagreb – Sisak was accepted today by Zagreb, Velika Gorica and the Zagreb County as well as the companies 'Hrvatske autoceste' and 'Hrvatske ceste' at the town palace of  'Dverce'.

'This is a project which will influence the 'living image' of Zagreb, Velika Gorica and Sisak, i.e. the entire area of Central Croatia', concluded the Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, adding that the motorway Zagreb – Sisak would definitely mark the following decade.

At the signing of the Agreement he thanked all involved in the Project, especially the Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, Božidar Kalmeta, for his support in the coordination of the Agreement.

'It is well known that the route from Zagreb to Velika Gorica is burdened with the most intense traffic in the country, and today's Agreement represents the start for solving this traffic collapse', said Stjepko Boban, president of the 'Hrvatske ceste' management board.

President of the 'Hrvatske autoceste' management board, Mario Crnjak, said that the finalization of the motorway Zagreb – Sisak until Lekenik was planned by the end of 2008. He also announced that a public tender for the construction works would be organized by mid December.

The Prefect of the Zagreb County, Stjepan Kožić, has stated his satisfaction regarding the quick coordination; he was also expecting the Project itself to be realized, soon. The Mayor of Velika Gorica, Tonino Picula, added that this Project would remain a task for the next government, who will take over the construction.

Today's Agreement defined the corridor in the area of the southern entry of the city of Zagreb; it passes the switching yard and connects to the Sarajevo Street based on the reconstruction of the hub Buzin. (Hina)
