Ferry "Tin Ujevic" hitted the coast in the port of the Split
Jadrolinija's ferry "Tin Ujevic", tonight around 19.30, while sailing into the port of the Split in a regular line from the Stari Grad on the island of the Hvar, hitted with it's stern on the part of the shore between the 13-12 'Sv. Petar' port's berths, but none of the 145 passengers was injured.
On the ferry of the length of the 98 meters, were transported 11 cars and 21 freight cars on which there is no damage.
At the momment when the ferry stroke on the port's berth, damage occured on the left side of the ship's stern, on the surface of the 3x3 meters large, and was also broken the fuel tank, so that more of the 33 tons of the diesel fuel 'D2' spilled into the sea.
In the order to prevent further spread of the fuel, and the contamination of the sea, the Port Authority of the Split immediately organized the setting of the floating barriers between the berths 13 and 17 in the City port, and the Port Authority's inspectors immediately carried out with the investigation to determine the causes of this maritime accident.
The County Staff for the sudden pollution of the sea is activated, and arrived at the accident site, as also as the police and firemen forces.
Through the coastal radio stations is broadcasted the message on the prohibition of the sailing into the port of the Split between the berths 13-17.
Split Port Authority's inspectors will examine the commander Damir Rusinovic(1951) and the 12 crew members.
