Digital Radio Mondiale Transmitter Put into Operation in Croatia

Croatian Prime Minister Ivo SanaderCroatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Wednesday officially put into operation a medium-wave transmitter for digital radio signals, set up in the village of Deanovac near the town of Ivanić Grad some 40 km east of Zagreb.

Croatia is the first central and southeastern European country to start broadcasting digital radio signals on the medium wave-length.

In this way, ‘Glas Hrvatske’ (The Voice of Croatia) can be received in the entire central and southeastern Europe at the frequency of 594 kilo-Hertz.

Croatia has joined a group of countries such as Great Britain, Germany, France, Luxembourg and the Vatican which transmit medium-wave digital signals.

Twelve million kuna have been invested in this project of introducing DRM - Digital Radio Mondiale, while a total of 230 million kuna have been invested in the upgrading of the entire national network of transmitters. (Hina)
