http://www.telecom2006.infoarena.hr/Last year, the telecom industry in Croatia registered an income increase by over 5%, along with a 6.4% price decrease for telecom users and a nominal investment growth by 30%, stated the Council President of the Croatian Agency for Telecommunications Gašper Gaćina at the 'SEE Telecom Arena'.

The price decrease in the fixed line network amounted up to 7-39% and in the mobile network up to 22% for domestic calls and 2.6% for roaming calls.

According to Gaćina, the new operators providing fixed lined services count 110 thousand customers. The number of Internet users reached the figure of 1.58 million.

Good results were also achieved in the realm of the WIMAX technology – counting 21 concessions in 6 counties.

All that, Gaćina concluded, was proof for a liberalization process developing on the telecom market in Croatia and the economic effects of that process were an increase of the operators' business efficiency.

Dražen Breglec, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development, concluded that the whole liberalization process was going well in Croatia. He concluded that not long ago the Croatian market was firmly ruled by a monopoly in the fixed line network and by a duopoly in the mobile network.
