Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković on Friday awarded contracts and agreements for 37 projects for investments in port areas and port hinterland in Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj and Istria counties, worth HRK 47 million.

The agreements and contracts, which were awarded in Rijeka, will serve as the basis for the construction and reconstruction of infrastructure in public ports of local and county significance, for the upgrading, reconstruction and construction of the fisheries infrastructure, and for projects to reconstruct the maritime domain intended for general use.

They are investments in port areas, implemented by county port authorities, and investments in the maritime domain and port hinterland, implemented by cities and municipalities, Butković said, calling on project leaders to expedite their activities and use the money available.

He said that HRK 105 million had been allocated to all coastal counties, that contracts would also be awarded by next week for the four remaining coastal counties, and that this referred to significant investments launched several years ago.

The minister said that currently projects worth around two billion kuna were underway in the coastal area, mostly owing to the use of EU funds, allocations from the state budget in the amount of 15% of the project value, as well as other funding.
