A group of bidders, consisting of Kolektor CPG from Slovenia, GP Krk from Croatia and EURO-ASFALT from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been selected to build the state road D403 in Rijeka, which runs from the Skurinje junction to the Rijeka Port, and its bid totalled HRK 456.36 million.

Bids for the project had been invited by the Hrvatske Ceste (HC) road management company and the estimated value of the project was HRK 461 million.

HC said the selected bid was the most favourable one.

The other bidders were China Road and Bridge Corporation, with a bid worth HRK 469 million, a consortium consisting of Poduzeće za ceste from Slavonski Brod and the Turkish company Yapi Merkezi Insaat Ve Sanay (HRK 574.7 million), a group of bidders consisting of Rizzani de Eccher and Consorzio Infrastrutture from Italy (HRK 478.7 million) and a consortium consisting of STRABAG d.o.o. from Croatia and STRABAG AG from Austria (HRK 511.1 million).

Their offers were turned down as their value exceeded the planned procurement amount.

The bids were opened in mid-December 2019.

The D403 road, which runs from the Skurinje junction on the Rijeka ring road to the new container terminal in the Port of Rijeka, is 2.97 kilometres long and has 380 metres of access road. The road includes a 1.2-kilometre tunnel, two viaducts, one 316 metres and the other 144 metres long, and a 56-metre underpass.
