A bridge across the River Kupa connecting the suburbs of Gornje Pokupje and Mahicno northwest of the city of Karlovac has been reconstructed to enable smooth transport between Karlovac and Ozalj en route to the Croatian border with Slovenia.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic said at the ceremony of opening the renovated bridge on Wednesday that beside this bridge, a new one would be built on the River Kupa some 270 metres downstream.

The new bridge will have no weight limits and the project, to include access roads, will cost nearly HRK 53 million.

The reconstructed bridge has a weight limit of up to 15 tonnes.
