The Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the City of Rijeka, the Rijeka-Zagreb Motorway Plc., Croatian Motorways Ltd. and Croatian roads Ltd. , the Rijeka Port Authority and the Croatian Railways (HŽ) signed on Friday an agreement on the joint financing of an integrated transport study for Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka.

The HRK 8.5 million study will determine plans for the construction and modernisation of parts of the local transport infrastructure and will be used to further develop transport solutions.
Transport Minister Božidar Kalmeta stressed the importance of the study incorporating solutions for the entrance of a lowland railway into the city of Rijeka.

The study, which is expected to be drawn up in 10 months, will cover the development of highways, motorways, state and county roads and access roads, as well as integrated regular-service public transport, the railway system, the maritime transport system with freight and passenger terminals, the modernisation and construction of ferry and public ports, an analysis of navigation safety, the airport system, and intermodal transport.

A similar study for the Zagreb transport hub has already been drawn up. This summer an agreement was signed to draw up such a study for the Split transport hub.

Minister Kalmeta offered his best wishes to the HŽ on the occasion of HŽ Day, which is marked on October 5, the day when the company was established 18 years ago.
