2nd international conference on intermodal transport in SE Europe held in Zagreb
The construction of the Krapina railway and the Zagreb cargo centre would make Croatia's capital the door of intermodal transport of Southeast Europe, was stated at the 2nd international conference on intermodal transport in southeast Europe.
The event was organised by the Danube-Adria Intermodal Promotion Center (IPC).
The General Secretary of IPC Danube-Adria, Dragutin Šubat, said that after food production and tourism, the development of intermodal transport was Croatia's third most important development opportunity.
Intermodal transport involves multiple modes of transportation for example road and railway transportation.
The construction of the Krapina railways on Corridor Xa Graz-Maribor-Zagreb (18 kilometres in Slovenia and 13 in Croatia) would improve transport links between central and eastern Europe and the distance between Zagreb and Vienna would be reduced by 60-70 kilometres, it was said at the conference.
